Kayak Use
For Guests of Villa Electra
By requesting and using the kayaks you agree to follow these rules at all times.
* Kayaks can be used only during daytime and not after sunset.
* Wearing the life jackets provided is mandatory at all times.
* It is permitted to use the kayaks only in the area from the last house on the left side up to the floating bridge on the right side and within the area signposted by the buoys (20m from shore).
* It is absolutely forbidden to stray further out either side or deeper than the signposted area as this will mean crossing the path of vessels and port entry which is perilous and strictly forbidden by Greek law. Violators will be fined by the coast guard and the kayaks will be confiscated.
*If you wish to tie the kayaks and enjoy a swim this can happen only during daytime and only with the use of the Villa’s private buoy, the yellow one in front of the premises, by clipping the metal hooks attached onto the loop of the kayaks. Other buoys belong to other properties and must not be used. It is not allowed to tie kayaks to the entry sea ladders or to the shore as rubbing against rocks will irreparably damage the craft.
*By sunset kayaks must be removed from the water and be properly stored and covered in the designated space.
The cost of replacement of a lost or damaged kayak is 550€ and will be covered in total by the guests.
... and some practical tips!
To put the kayak in the water easily and safely, grab the middle handles, lift it, turn and rest its bottom on the top of the two ladder arches horizontally. Then, from the sea, holding the handle closest to you, slide it down into the water side-first.
Taking it out works in reverse: while standing between the ladder arches pull the kayak sideways against them, then holding the side handle closest to you, lift that side up and pull the kayak up horizontally while its bottom slides on the handles. Then grabbing both handles, lift, turn and store one on the side of the other while ensuring the backrests are folded down to avoid damaging.
Please do not pull kayaks from the water to the stone platform or slide them off. Rocks will damage them.
Happy kayaking!
